Social Media Awards 2020 – Grocery Stores in Germany

Happy new year 2021! As you know – if you have followed Storyclash for a while – we love to take this time of the year to celebrate brands which performed extraordinarily well throughout the past 12 months.
That being said, let's bring on the Social Media Awards 2020!

To determine the most successful grocery store brands as well as the year’s top post, we consider all sites including articles, pictures and videos. Total interactions are measured across the platforms of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok.

2020’s most successful Grocery Stores in Germany:

Kaufland did it once again. Already victorious in 2019, the brand earned over 6.7 million social media interactions throughout the year 2020.

Coming in second is Lidl Deutschland with almost 5 million interactions, followed by Aldi Süd with a total of around 2.4 million interactions on social media. 

🥇 Kaufland

Kaufland has gathered a total of 1.8 million fans on social media, posted over 3.100 times and got most of their interaction last year on Instagram (58.3%), followed by Facebook (37.5%). 

🥈 Lidl Deutschland

Lidl Deutschland has a total of more than 2.1 million fans. Instagram works best for them, earning over 2.4 million interactions compared to their next-best platform: Facebook – 2.1 million.

🥉 Aldi Süd

A total of more than 1.6 million social media fans follow Aldi Süd. Instagram is by far their top-performing social media platform, they earned over 70% of all their social media interactions on there.

🎉 Most successful social media post of the year

The top social media post of 2020 is from Aldi Nord. It was posted on the brand's TikTok account and gathered a total of 221.099 interactions.
